Eyelid Surgery

Dr Ha has helped many eyelid surgery patients rejuvenate their appearance. As a dedicated expert in facial cosmetic surgery, he understands that drooping eyelids and unsightly bags under the eyes can have an impact on one's self-confidence.

Eyelid surgery (also called an eye lift or blepharoplasty) aims to remove excessive skin, fat, and sometimes muscle, from the upper and the lower eyelids. An eye lift can correct droopy upper lids as well as puffy bags below the eyes, which can make you look older or more tired than you feel. Blepharoplasty can be performed in conjunction with other facial procedures like a rhinoplasty, facelift or browlift.

Eyelid surgery is performed on men and women of all ages who want to improve their appearance and self-image. The best candidates for eyelid surgery are men and women who are physically healthy, but have droopy, baggy, or puffy eyelids.

Many patients choose to combine a facelift with eyelid surgery for complete facial rejuvenation. While facelift surgery is successful at smoothing your facial skin and tightening underlying tissue, eyelid surgery can correct droopy or puffy eyelids. The combination of refreshed skin and brighter looking eyes can help take years off your appearance, greatly improving your self-confidence.

Browlift

Sagging or ptosis of the forehead and eyebrow area is a very common sign of ageing. A forehead lift is used to correct a drooping brow and reduce the horizontal lines and furrows (worry lines) that often make a person appear tired, sad or angry. The procedure results in a refreshed, youthful appearance to the forehead area above the eyes. It also improves the droopy eyelid appearance and is commonly performed with a blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery). The aims of a browlift is to produce a natural correction of the ageing process by removing the lines of wear and tear. The procedure can produce a significant improvement in the appearance for many years.

Dr Ha offers the following browlift procedures in Adelaide, and will tailor a treatment specific to your needs:

  • Direct browlift
  • Mid forehead lift
  • Temporal browlift
  • Pre-trichophytic browlift
  • Coronal browlifts

Otoplasty

Otoplasty (prominent ear surgery) is performed to: pin back protruding ears (bat ears), corrects the size and shape of ears that do not match and to reduce excess cartilage in the ears.

Individuals with prominent or abnormal appearing ears can be subject to ridicule and cruel remarks from their peers. This in turn lowers their self-esteem and confidence. Otoplasty can be performed to place the ears back in a more natural position dramatically improving the aesthetic appearance.

For children it is advised to wait until they are at least 5 years old. An advantage in performing otoplasty in children is that the cartilage is still soft and easily moulded, as cartilage becomes firmer with age. However, otoplasty is still very effective in teenagers and adults. Correction of severe deformities of the ears is more complex and can be discussed on an individual basis.
